Have you seen our new video “California Chrome” made for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Contest? We had a good time making it and I think it came out pretty good. I’m sure we’ll win the contest but in the off chance we don’t, at least we got a sweet video out of it.
On Friday afternoon we headed over to KHUM‘s studio for Larry Trask’s show, Awkward Pause, and debuted some originals numbers live on the air. We concluded the set with the fulfillment of Larry’s longstanding weekend song challenge: write a song about the weekend and it will be added to the usually Friday line-up of songs about the weekend. This new song, aptly named “The Weekend Song (Larry’s Tune)” hearkened in the start of a great weekend. In case you missed us this time around, be sure to tune into KHUM every Friday afternoon between now and eternity and listen to our weekend tune.
Colin Trujillo hamming it up with those flashy & patriot star shades, just look at that all-American banjo face.
The Lyndsey Battle Trio joined us for a closing number. Damn, their good. We’d be roadies for them any day.
We nearly sold out at our first headlining show of the year! A huge thanks to everyone who listened to the radio performance and came out to the show at Humbrews, especially Adam Taylor for your awesome work on the California Chrome video and great photographs of this night.
